The Hong Kong singer gave birth to her second son via Caesarean section yesterday

Congratulations to Hong Kong singer Kelly Chen, who welcomed a baby boy yesterday.

The 39-year-old Kelly had been trying hard for a baby girl, ever since she gave birth to her eldest child Chace back in 2009. In January 2011, she announced that she had successfully conceived a pair of twin daughters, but unfortunately had a miscarriage in March the same year. After three months of rest, Kelly announced that she was pregnant again, this time with a baby boy.

Then, the singer said that her expected delivery date was in April, and the singer was even spotted sending Chace to school two days ago. However, at 5pm yesterday, she announced, “Xiao Long Bao (nickname given to her second son) was born today, weighing 6.5 pounds (3kg). Both mother and son are safe.”

Later, Kelly expressed through her assistant Leo that her husband Alex was with her during the delivery and had filmed the entire process. The new father also cut the umbilical cord personally.

Leo added, “Although it was bloody in the delivery room, Alex was very excited, but calm because he had also witnessed Chace’s birth and cut his umbilical cord. Kelly was very touched when Xiao Long Bao was born, but she didn’t cry.”

When asked if Xiao Long Bao resembles Kelly or Alex more, Leo expressed that he had not seen the child, but the singer said that the baby is as adorable as his elder brother Chace. He added that Chace is aware that his younger brother is born, but has yet to see him due to school commitments.
