John “Jay” Fahy, a New Jersey attorney who frequently appeared on MSNBC as a guest to discuss legal issues, was found dead on Wednesday.

Fahy’s body was found under a highway overpass, police said in a press conference, as reported in New Jersey’s Bergen County Record. The cause of death is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Fahy had served as a Bergen County prosecutor in the early 1990s. At the time of his death, he was the senior partner and founder of the Fahy Choi law firm and a frequent guest on MSNBC shows as a legal analyst. He last appeared on the channel in June to discuss the George Zimmerman trial.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. Fahy is survived by his wife, Anne.
