22 year-old singer G.E.M. Tang has finally made it in mainland China, after participating in the Chinese reality singing competition, “I am Singer”, and now are getting more and more attention from mainland productions and sponsors.
According to HK Channel, sources revealed that the singer, whose follow count on Weibo have surpassed 3 million after her participation in the programme, has recently been offered several lucrative deals in the north.
It was reported that not only did she renewed her contract with Maybelline for RMB 1.5 million (approx. USD 247,864), she was also offered to star in several other ads including a make-up brand, a car company, as well as the international beverage brand, Pepsi.
In addition to commercials, the singer was also invited to perform with the main cast members of popular reality show, “Dad, Where Are We Going?” for Hunan TV’s 2014 New Year Gala, as well as movie roles and original soundtrack recordings.
While the singer is currently considering her options, her 21-show world tour is estimated to profit her an additional RMB 12 million (approx. USD 1.98 million).
Overall, the singer is expected to earn as much as RMB 20 million (USD 3.3 million) for 2014.
When asked about the offers in a recent tv-interview, G.E.M did not deny it, and confirmed that she will be performing her Mandarin song “Oh Boy” at the New Year Gala.
However, in terms of the movies, she said, “I am more interested in singing theme songs rather than acting. Acting is not a priority, but music is.”
However, G.E.M said that she will consider a movie if it’s a musical in the likes of Beyonce’s “Dream Girls”.
