Wang Qi revealed she would never have guessed Qian was actually a female because Qian looked like a man from head to toe. He even used the male restrooms when out in public.

The couple had refrained from having sex because Qian “didn’t want sex before marriage”.

Unable to accept reality, Wang Qi visited Qian’s parents, who accused her of being a liar. They accused her of just creating drama over financial issues.

Michael Sam Football Player Made History and Shocked His Father By Coming Out As Gay

LA MARQUE, Texas — Michael Sam, Sr.’s birthday was last Tuesday, which is when his son, Michael, Jr., gave him the biggest surprise of his life.

Michael, Jr. told his father he was gay.

”I was shocked,” Michael, Sr., said. “I’m proud of him. He’s my son.”

The rest of the family, for the most part, found out about the same time the rest of the world did. Sunday night, Michael Sr.’s sister, Geraldine, started getting a bunch of phone calls. People were telling her to turn on ESPN. She didn’t know what was going on. Then the New York Times called. Her nephew, Michael, SEC co-defensive player of the year, was about to become the first openly gay player in NFL history.

”I don’t think anyone in my family knew,” she said. “He’s made history. He really has made history and I’m really proud of him.”

Something in the Sam blood, maybe. Geraldine was the first African-American female mayor in Galveston County when in 2009 she was elected a mayor of La Marque, Texas, in a last-minute upset. Turned out Geraldine, a Republican, was popular with the senior citizens, whose ballots came in at the end that year.

La Marque is a town of 14,509 about 50 miles south of Houston. It exists because of the oil industry, but not much of the wealth generated from that has washed up in La Marque, or its adjacent kid brother, Hitchcock (pop. 6,961), where Michael Sam starred at Hitchcock High School before going to Missouri. Both towns are less than 60 percent white and more than 30 percent black, which gives the area almost three times as many African-Americans per capita as the state as a whole.

That diversity hasn’t resulted in harmony. When Geraldine was elected mayor, somebody called the police station to say they planned to kill her. That brought the FBI in town. She’s heard the N-word plenty. Monday, La Marque terminated a fire department captain after he posted an image of Barack Obama with a noose around his neck on his Facebook page.

For Michael Sam, the world has been a place of chaos and heartbreak. His parents have divorced each other twice. His sister drowned at 2 years old reaching for a doll near a pool. One of his brothers was shot to death, two of his brothers are in prison and one of his brothers disappeared one day.

”They never did find him,” Geraldine said. “I just don’t think they looked for him like they do everyone else. With young black children, they always say they ran away.”

But Michael kept his head. At Hitchcock High, he was a two-star recruit, which if you know anything about recruiting tells you what the scouting services thought of him. A five-star is the best. They don’t even give out single stars.

But Missouri found him, and he turned into a first-team All-American, leading a supposedly under-talented Tigers team to a 12-2 record in Missouri’s second season in the Southeastern Conference. Last summer, Sam told his Tiger teammates about his sexuality and, remarkably, that news more or less stayed in-house.

“Can you imagine the trust and the family atmosphere?” Geraldine said. “For them to keep his secret?”

As NFL Draft season starts to boil, every prospect’s personal life gets ransacked by scouts looking for dirty secrets. The rumors were starting to go around and, Geraldine said, it prompted her nephew to take control of his own story by just coming out with it.

Geraldine says she’d like to think her own experience as a mayor provided her nephew with some of the courage it took to do what he did, but she doesn’t know that. She is pretty sure, however, there’s a toughness in the Sam blood.

”That’s the Sam side of the family,” she said. “I’d like to take a little bit of credit for it.”

She says the Sams are prepared for some backlash. Not everybody will be supportive. But Geraldine figures it’s nothing they can’t handle.

“We’re prepared for those differences of opinion,” she said. “I tell people all the time, if anyone has anything to say negative about him, come see me. I have a word for you. That’s my nephew and I do have his back.”

It’s been a day of reflection for Robin Roberts.

And in a Facebook post looking back to one year ago today, when she “reached a critical milestone of 100 days post transplant,” the Good Morning America anchor reveals she has a longtime girlfriend.

Roberts wrote today in the post that “at this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude,” and thanked God, her doctors and nurses, her sister and family and her “long time girlfriend, Amber” for their support.

“I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together,” she wrote.

While Roberts, 53, did not give her girlfriend’s last name, People identifies her as Amber Laign, a licensed massage therapist from the San Francisco Bay area who has a private practice specializing in patients recovering from injuries. She and Roberts have been together for 10 years after meeting through mutual friends.

The Facebook post also showed a photo of Roberts one year ago when she was reunited with her dog, KJ, after undergoing a bone marrow transplant she underwent in September 2012 to treat a blood and bone marrow disease. “Hard to believe this was 1 year ago today … Reading this comforts me and I hope the same for you: “If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.”

Wentworth Miller, best known for his role on “Prison Break,” came out as a gay man in an open letter to the St. Petersburg International Film Festival. The fest invited him to attend, and although Miller cited ties to Russia and pleasant visits to the country in the past, he said no.

“As a gay man, I must decline,” Miller wrote in his letter. “I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.”

Andy Cohen says ‘nyet’ to Miss Universe in Russia, citing discriminatory policies

He signed the letter by asserting his membership in GLAAD, the Human Rights Campaign, and The ManKind Project. GLAAD reps supported Miller’s stance with their own statement:

“Wentworth’s bold show of support sends a powerful message to LGBT Russians, who are facing extreme violence and persecution: you are not alone,” GLAAD spokesman Wilson Cruz said in a statement. “As people from across the globe continue to speak out against Russia’s horrific law, more celebrities and corporations should follow his courageous lead in openly condemning Russia’s anti-LGBT law.”

George Takei, Stephen Fry and more speak out against Russia hosting Olympics

Russian president Vladimir Putin’s stringent anti-gay laws have met with much resistance both outside the country and within its own population, especially with Russia hosting next year’s winter Olympics.

WWE professional wrestler Darren Young announced this week that he was gay.

In an interview with TMZ at the baggage claim area of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Young was asked if a gay wrestler could be successful in the WWE.

“Absolutely. Look at me,” Young replied. “You know, I’m a WWE superstar and to be honest with you, I’ll tell you right now, I’m gay. And I’m happy. Very happy.”

The TMZ interviewer replied that he was “flabbergasted” because no WWE wrester had come out while still under contract.

“I just don’t think it matters,” Young said. “Does it matter? Does it matter to you? Does it change what you think about me?”

“I guess if you want to call it coming out, I really don’t know what to say it is, but I’m just letting you know that I’m happy with who I am, I’m comfortable with myself, and I’m happy to be living the dream,” he continued. “To be honest with you, I’m happy with myself, and some people might not like it and some people will like it. But I’m here to please myself, I’m here to be happy. It’s very important I’m happy with myself.”

According to TMZ, Young is the “first openly gay wrestler ever at WWE … and the first headlining wrestler ever to come out while still signed to a major promotion.”

Update (12:30 p.m. ET): WWE released a statement in support of Young.

On TMZ this morning, WWE Superstar Darren Young revealed to the WWE Universe that he is gay. WWE is proud of Darren Young for being open about his sexuality, and we will continue to support him as a WWE Superstar. Today, in fact, Darren will be participating in one of our Be A STAR anti-bullying rallies in Los Angeles to teach children how to create positive environments for everyone regardless of age, race, religion or sexual orientation.

The first openly gay professional boxer, Puerto Rican Orlando Cruz made history last October when he came out declaring himself a “proud gay man.”

Now he’s making news for proposing to his boyfriend on Facebook.

“I want you to be part of my life and me be part of yours,” Cruz said in Spanish in a video released on his Facebook page.

His boyfriend Jose Manuel accepted in a similar video message.

“I accept marrying you because I love you and adore you,” Manuel said.

Now that Cruz is setting milestones in his personal life, his professional career may soon take a historic turn — the 32-year-old will face Orlando Solido in October for the WBO featherweight championship.

“Now more than ever that I have an important fight coming up for the World Championship,” Cruz said in the proposal video, “I want to tell you that you are a very special person in my life.”

With a record of 20-2-1, Cruz could become the first active openly gay boxer to capture a championship.

The fight will take place in Las Vegas on October 12th.

Since revealing he is gay and being featured on HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryan Gumbel,” other athletes have followed in his steps.

Robbie Roberts came out and retired from professional soccer before un-retiring and signing with the Los Angeles Galaxy. And NBA player Jason Collins also made headlines by coming out; he is a free agent and has yet to be signed by a team.

Late last summer Jason called and said that he was coming over because he had something to tell me. This was nothing new. We speak multiple times a day, always have. He’s Tio Jason to my three kids. He’s like a brother to my wife. He’s my twin, eight minutes older. We live only a few miles apart on the west side of L.A. But while most of our conversations are quick and light, this one was different.

Jason has taken a huge weight off his shoulders. And I’ve never been more proud of him.

“After his identity was revealed, he feels as if he is being watched. It’s gotten to a point where I’m wondering whether I should let him go”, said Hong of his twenty-something boyfriend. “Regardless, even if I were to break up with him, he will be the center of attention again, so it’s a dilemma”.
