A hero actor pictured helping the knife victim stabbed in front of celebrities at last night’s party for BlackBerry has told how he battled to save the man’s life.
Kenny Solomons, from Barnet, north London, reacted first after the lavish nightclub bash was brought to an abrupt halt by a vicious attack.
As a crowd of onlookers gathered round the scene in Southwark, south London, the 25-year dived in and put his hands around the victim’s throat as blood gushed out.
He was pictured holding the man there stemming the flow of blood until an ambulance arrived when paramedics told him to keep hold or the victims would die.
Mr Solomons told MailOnline: ‘I didn’t see what happened, the first I knew about it was it all went quiet and I realised people had gathered round something and I could see a man with blood pouring out of his throat.’
It was then that Mr Solomons, who has no first aid training, grabbed a towel from the bar and clasped the victim’s throat.
He said: ‘There was an immense amount of blood. It was like nothing I’d ever seen before, it didn’t seem real.
‘Everyone reacted really quickly and helped out. The bar staff were great, the events co-ordinator for BlackBerry who was there kept everyone away, everyone did really well.
‘The paramedics only took about five minutes to come and they told me keep my hand on the man’s throat until they got him in the ambulance.’
Mr Solomons had been doing promotional work for the party host BlackBerry and said what he did was just ‘instinct’.
‘All I did was common sense really, it was just an instinct, it was just what I had seen on television and as an actor I have had a couple of medical roles and that helped.’
Following the incident, the party’s celebrity guests, who included The Only Way Is Essex star Lauren Goodger and former N-Dubz member Fazer, were locked in the nightclub as police started their investigation.
It’s believed the man, aged in his 30s, was stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle during a rush for the cloakroom.
The mobile phone company had spared no expense to impress, laying on free drinks and canapes as top acts Jessie J and Wretch 32 performed at the London nightclub.
Witnesses said the inside of the club was covered in blood following the violence after Jessie J finished her set at 11.40pm.
The injured man was taken from Pulse nightclub in Southwark to hospital and is in a critical condition, said the Metropolitan Police.
Scotland Yard said a 25-year-old suspect had been arrested on suspicion of assault and is in custody at a South London police station.
Officers cordoned off part of the club and 450 guests including stars from reality TV series The Only Way Is Essex were held until 1.50am.
They were then released one by one, with police taking their names and addresses as they went.
The party was also attended by rappers Chipmunk and Wretch 32, who performed a set, stars of reality TV series Made in Chelsea and model Georgia Salpa.
Party-goers took to Twitter to talk about the drama at the event intended to promote BlackBerry’s instant messaging service, BlackBerry Messenger.
