After serving in the military for his conscripted duty and missing out on many trends, Jaejoong expressed his confusion after being gifted a flower crown.

During his first fan meeting event after being released from the military, a fan gave JYJ‘s Jaejoong a beautiful flower crown with pink roses. After putting on the flower crown on himself, he put on a white flower crown on the fan too.

In response to the gift, Jaejoong asked the fan where she got the flower crown from and told his fans not to buy flower crowns just because he wore one.

Unaware of what other idols were doing, Jaejoong also asked whether wearing such accessories was a popular trend nowadays.

Lee Hyori was featured in Elle magazine’s March edition and her photos were a sure reminder of who owns the title of Korea’s sexiest diva.

Lee Hyori’s photoshoot with Elle magazine took place in a vintage apartment in New York, and her sex appeal and stylish fashion sense reminded everyone that she was once the epitome of sexy. In these photos, Lee Hyori rocked vintage outfits to match the photoshoot background such as a floral bomber jacket and patchy denim shorts, as well as suits to highlight her charisma.

Lee Hyori’s absence from the music scene led to a change in her image to a more simple and reserved one, as she opted to live on Jeju Island, in a rustic yet modern cottage-like house.

With the photoshoot in Elle, she proved once again that she could bring sexy back whenever she pleased.

K.A.R.D confessed that dancing provocatively with the opposite sex members of the group was the most awkward part of being in a co-ed group.

K.A.R.D is unique in that they’re one of the only idol groups with both female and male members. With K.A.R.D, the co-ed concept is fresh and group dynamics are still new for the members and fans as well.

In their songs “Don’t Recall” and “Oh NaNa” the female members twerk during the dance breaks. As the male dancers are actual members and not just back dancers, K.A.R.D admitted that this made things awkward at first as the dance was provocative.

As the members got closer, they got used to dancing like this. K.A.R.D’s Jiwoo said the following regarding the dancing.

“Even though it is uncomfortable to dance like this with our members, we had to get used to it because even if it’s awkward – it’s more awkward for viewers if they sense that tension between us. That’s why we got over the awkward stages and did our best with the dancing.”

– K.A.R.D Jiwoo

It was also brought up that they members have had to change clothes in the same area before.  Now they need at least one extra room for changing, but in the past, it’s suggested that they had to change together. All members nodded in agreement that it was awkward.

With KARA‘s contract expiration date nearing with DSP Media, many netizens are suspecting that the group will not renew their contract and will instead disband.

On Pann, a netizen published on December 24th a post titled “Girl group who will disband,” naming girl group KARA and wrote, “Next year, KARA will enter their 9th year. Their contract is reaching near its end. Rumors going amongst fans is that Park Gyuri will be going to an film acting agency and Goo Hara will enter SM C&C. I don’t know about Han Seungyeon, but there is talk that none of these three will renew their contract.”

“There is also a rumor that DSP will be doing something with Youngji and Somin, who withdrew from April.”

DSP Media confirmed back in October 2015 that Park Gyuri, Han Seungyeon, and Goo Hara’s contract with the agency would indeed be expiring at the end of the year though a confirmation of a renewal has yet to be reported.

KARA originally debuted in 2007 as a four-member girl group (Gyuri, Seungyeon, Nicole,Sunghee) before going through their first lineup change in 2008. Member Sunghee left and the group welcomed two additional members, Hara and Jiyoung, where they found success as a group.

In 2011, the group underwent controversy when all of the members minus group leader Gyuri filed a suit against DSP Media, requesting contract termination. Goo Hara withdrew from the suit and rejoined the company, and four months later, the agency resolved their issues with the three remaining members.

In January 2014, Nicole officially withdrew from KARA after deciding not to renew her contract with Jiyoung also leaving with her own contract expiring in April 2014. A new member was recruited, Youngji, who joined on July 1st following the conclusion of the KARA Project.

Large entertainment companies such as SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, or JYP Entertainment have many popular groups that help them stay in business.

However, smaller companies often rely on the success of just one or two groups. Netizens recently discussed several male idol groups who are the main source of revenue for their respective entertainment companies. Without the success of these groups, their companies might not be in business today.
