Actor Song Joong-ki, of the KBS drama “Nice Guy”, met with his fans Saturday for the last time before he starts to serve his mandatory military service.
He is scheduled to begin his service in Chuncheon, Gangwon, on Aug. 27
Around 1,400 fans came all across the country and overseas – including Japan, China and France – to say goodbye to the actor at Sangmyeong Art Center in Jongno, central Seoul.
In the first half of the fan meeting, Song focused on interacting with the fans. He gave away a pair of his sunglasses and a bag he had used during college.
There were also video messages from his fellow celebrities, including singer Kim Jong-kook and comedian Yoo Jae-seok. Actor Zo In-sung of the TV drama “That Winter, the Wind Blows“, who is one Song’s best friends, attended the event in person to wish his friend well.
In the second part of the event, Song gave some thoughts on acting and his future, giving fans something to look forward to until he is discharged.
It’s been more than a year since his last visit to Singapore and fans of Song Joong Ki will be delighted to know that Korea’s sunshine boy will be back this May for his inaugural Asia Tour fan meet.
Presented by Colored Rhythms Events together with Sidus HQ and HS Media, Song Joong Ki’s “Thrill & Love” event will be held at the iconic and newly revived Kallang Theatre, where fans will be able to meet the star up close through autograph and high five sessions on May 20 as well as a public appearance at Marina Square on May 19.
Song Joong Ki made his acting debut in 2008’s film, Frozen Flower, and gained exposure through his hosting gig in KBS music show, Music Bank. He became a household name when he starred as the cheeky Goo Yong-ha in hit TV series, Sung Kyung Kwan Scandal in 2010, and most recently as King Sejong in Deep Rooted Tree last year.
Apart from his serious acting roles, the 26-year-old displayed a different side of himself through their missions and group activities in his stint as a permanent fixture on the rib-tickling Korean variety programme, Running Man.
This certified “umchina” (Korean slang for a perfect man good in everything) was recently chosen by Arirang TV and MBC’s Section TV as one of the brightest Hallyu stars to watch out for in 2012. Dubbed the CF darling in Korea because of his clean image, Joong Ki was also named as one of the top seven commercial endorsers in Korea by a Korean online news site.
