South Korean Olympic gold medalist swimmer Park Tae Hwan has failed his doping test. However, his management has attributed it to “an illegal injection made by a local doctor.”

The World Anti-Doping Agency announced on January 26th that the swimmer had tested positive for doping while Park’s representation has explained the situation.

According to his management, “Park received a free chiropractic treatment about two months before the Asian Games where he also received the shot. Prior to the injection, Park repeatedly asked about the contents of the shot and if it contained illegal substances. The doctor assured him that there would be no problem. However, it turns out that the shot contained an illegal substance which lead to this positive test.

As to Park’s current state, “He is more shocked than anyone,” with his management also  stating that “he had even avoided taking cold medicine to prevent any possible false-positives on the doping test.

His management continued by saying, “Park Tae Hwan has been a world class swimmer for 10 years… Our legal team is currently determining the reason and the purpose that this hospital administered this illegal substance and we are prepared to hold the hospital accountable and liable both civilly and criminally.

The timing of the maltreatment and the positive doping test comes coincidentally right before the important Asian Games for which Park was named captain; this has led to some calling out the injustice and unfairness of the maltreatment. In addition, this news was surprising since Park had taken the doping test several times for the Incheon Asian Games which returned with no problems.

Currently, Park’s management and the prosecution have initiated an investigation into the hospital.

Michael Sam Football Player Made History and Shocked His Father By Coming Out As Gay

LA MARQUE, Texas — Michael Sam, Sr.’s birthday was last Tuesday, which is when his son, Michael, Jr., gave him the biggest surprise of his life.

Michael, Jr. told his father he was gay.

”I was shocked,” Michael, Sr., said. “I’m proud of him. He’s my son.”

The rest of the family, for the most part, found out about the same time the rest of the world did. Sunday night, Michael Sr.’s sister, Geraldine, started getting a bunch of phone calls. People were telling her to turn on ESPN. She didn’t know what was going on. Then the New York Times called. Her nephew, Michael, SEC co-defensive player of the year, was about to become the first openly gay player in NFL history.

”I don’t think anyone in my family knew,” she said. “He’s made history. He really has made history and I’m really proud of him.”

Something in the Sam blood, maybe. Geraldine was the first African-American female mayor in Galveston County when in 2009 she was elected a mayor of La Marque, Texas, in a last-minute upset. Turned out Geraldine, a Republican, was popular with the senior citizens, whose ballots came in at the end that year.

La Marque is a town of 14,509 about 50 miles south of Houston. It exists because of the oil industry, but not much of the wealth generated from that has washed up in La Marque, or its adjacent kid brother, Hitchcock (pop. 6,961), where Michael Sam starred at Hitchcock High School before going to Missouri. Both towns are less than 60 percent white and more than 30 percent black, which gives the area almost three times as many African-Americans per capita as the state as a whole.

That diversity hasn’t resulted in harmony. When Geraldine was elected mayor, somebody called the police station to say they planned to kill her. That brought the FBI in town. She’s heard the N-word plenty. Monday, La Marque terminated a fire department captain after he posted an image of Barack Obama with a noose around his neck on his Facebook page.

For Michael Sam, the world has been a place of chaos and heartbreak. His parents have divorced each other twice. His sister drowned at 2 years old reaching for a doll near a pool. One of his brothers was shot to death, two of his brothers are in prison and one of his brothers disappeared one day.

”They never did find him,” Geraldine said. “I just don’t think they looked for him like they do everyone else. With young black children, they always say they ran away.”

But Michael kept his head. At Hitchcock High, he was a two-star recruit, which if you know anything about recruiting tells you what the scouting services thought of him. A five-star is the best. They don’t even give out single stars.

But Missouri found him, and he turned into a first-team All-American, leading a supposedly under-talented Tigers team to a 12-2 record in Missouri’s second season in the Southeastern Conference. Last summer, Sam told his Tiger teammates about his sexuality and, remarkably, that news more or less stayed in-house.

“Can you imagine the trust and the family atmosphere?” Geraldine said. “For them to keep his secret?”

As NFL Draft season starts to boil, every prospect’s personal life gets ransacked by scouts looking for dirty secrets. The rumors were starting to go around and, Geraldine said, it prompted her nephew to take control of his own story by just coming out with it.

Geraldine says she’d like to think her own experience as a mayor provided her nephew with some of the courage it took to do what he did, but she doesn’t know that. She is pretty sure, however, there’s a toughness in the Sam blood.

”That’s the Sam side of the family,” she said. “I’d like to take a little bit of credit for it.”

She says the Sams are prepared for some backlash. Not everybody will be supportive. But Geraldine figures it’s nothing they can’t handle.

“We’re prepared for those differences of opinion,” she said. “I tell people all the time, if anyone has anything to say negative about him, come see me. I have a word for you. That’s my nephew and I do have his back.”

Joao Rodrigo Silva Santos (Footballer) Head Severed, Wife Geisa Silva Discovers

A former professional footballer’s head has been severed and left on the doorstep of his home in a rucksack.

The horrified wife of Joao Rodrigo Silva Santos, 35, made the gruesome discovery as she left the house in Rio de Janeiro for work early yesterday morning.

The player’s eyes and tongue had been cut out and his head placed inside one of his own rucksacks, police said.

Mr Santos retired from football two years ago after a successful career playing for several teams in Rio de Janeiro, as well as for clubs in Sweden and Honduras.

He had recently set up his own business selling health foods and dietary supplements.

Police said today that Mr Santos is believed to have been snatched as he closed up his shop late on Monday night.

Witnesses said they saw several men bundling him into his car, a Hyundai i30, and speeding off just before midnight, a spokesman said.

Mr Santos’ brother-in-law, who didn’t want to be named, told Brazil’s Globo G1 website that the player’s wife, Geisa Silva, 31, stayed up all night after her husband failed to arrive home.

He said: “Every time a car passed by she would go to see.

“She was getting ready to go to work at around 5.30am when she heard a noise, opened the front door and saw his rucksack. When she opened it, it was his head.

“From what I know, he didn’t have any enemies and neither did his wife.”

Investigators are probing whether Mr Santos was murdered by a drugs gang because of Ms Silva’s work at a military police base in a local slum.

The ‘Police Pacification Unit’ in the Morro do Sao Carlos is one of dozens set up in Rio’s favelas to retake control of the city’s slums from violent drug traffickers.

However, according to police chief Rafael Rangel, Mrs Silva worked as a social worker in the base and didn’t patrol the streets or make arrests like other police officers.

He told Brazil’s O Dia newspaper the motives of the murder are still unclear.

He said: “Mrs Silva has no idea who would have done this.

“Neither she, her husband or any other member of the family have suffered any type of threat as far as she knows.

“There is nothing that would justify such a barbarous crime.”

He added that police have begun searching for the rest of Mr Santos’ body.

Aaron Hernandez’s Girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins Charged With Perjury Over Odin Lloyd’s Murder

The girlfriend of former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez has been indicted on a perjury charge in connection with the killing of his friend.

A Massachusetts prosecutor said Friday that a grand jury indicted Shayanna Jenkins on a single count in relation to the investigation into the June 17 killing of the friend, Odin Lloyd. The prosecutor says Hernandez’s cousin, Tanya Singleton, also was indicted on a new charge of conspiracy to commit accessory after the fact.

Lloyd was found shot to death on June 17 in an industrial park in North Attleborough, Mass., near Hernandez’s home. Lloyd, a 27-year-old Boston semi-professional football player, was dating the sister of Hernandez’s girlfriend.

Earlier Friday, a grand jury also indicted a second Hernandez associate, Carlos Ortiz, on a accessory to murder charge in connection with the Lloyd killing. Until now, Ortiz had been facing only a gun charge in connection with the case. He pleaded not guilty to that charge.

Ki Sung Yueng Frustrated and Tired Of Warming The Bench For Swansea City

Ki Sung-yueng is believed to be looking for a new club as he is growing tired of warming the bench for Swansea City in the English Premier League, the team he joined after parting ways with Scottish powerhouse Celtic in August last year.

He was apparently frustrated once again at not being part of Swansea’s 5-1 demolition of Romania’s Petrolul Ploiesti during their recent UEFA Champions League playoff game.

WalesOnline reported that Ki had “slipped down the pecking order” after coach Michael Laudrup acquired Jonjo Shelvey and José Cañas this summer. It added that Ki may be heading to rival EPL outfit Sunderland on a one-year loan deal, where he would join compatriot Ji Dong-won.

However, with only a few days remaining before the summer transfer window closes, Ki must move fast if he hopes to spend a more productive season in either the EPL or German Bundesliga.

Ki played 38 games for Swansea last season — 29 in the Premier League, two in the FA Cup and seven in the League Cup. After he joined the club for 6 million pounds, the largest transfer fee ever recorded for a Korean player, he soon established himself as a defensive midfielder who posed a constant threat with his free kicks and corner kicks.

But after Laudrup guided the club to win the League Cup last season, he announced that he would be making a significant overhaul, and subsequently brought in new midfielders including Shelvey from Liverpool and Cañas from Real Betis.

Ki has been in the doghouse since the start of the season. He was brought on to replace Cañas in the 77th minute of the club’s Premier League opener against Manchester United on Aug. 18, and reportedly had a falling out with the coach in the process.

In an interview with British media on the same day, the coach said that Ki must fight to secure his place in the midfield amid fierce competition.
