EXO’s Baekhyun Comments About Depression, Was It Insensitive?

EXO‘s Baekhyun has received criticism after making comments about a fan’s depression.

When a fan came up to him during a fansign and revealed to him that she was taking medication for her depression, he suggested her to stop taking medication and find a healthier solution.

However, depression is actually a clinical diagnosis, where the chemical imbalance of the brain causes the illness. People who read what he had told her were extremely upset that he would advise her to stop taking medication and criticized him for being both insensitive and potentially dangerous. However, the fan emphasized that Baekhyun meant no harm and is actually a big source of her strength in fighting her depression.

Netizens Berate Korean Rapper B Free For Calling K-Pop Idols ‘Gay’

His name is B Free and he’s done things that are making me hate him more and more.

1.He refers to EXO Sehun and BTS as ‘gay’.
2. Criticizes people for illegal streaming and gets caught downloading pirated copies himself.
3. Claims that the Korean military service is the “Biggest waste of time in the world”
4. Criticizes idol rappers and than features on Mino’s stage at Show Me the Money

There are more. I really wish he would stop his SNS activities. Some say he’s a good guy in person but he told BTS that they look gay in person and than claimed that they plagiarized when they didn’t.

The rapper in question, BFREE has also been previously under fire for calling EXO’s Sehun “gay as fuck”. He later deleted the tweet.

Since news broke out of EXO Baekhyun and Girls’ Generation Taeyeon’s relationship, EXO has been on tour and Baekhyun had not released a message to fans.

Now, he has left a message to fans on Instagram.

Hello, this is Baekhyun. Although it’s very late.. I’m leaving these words here to tell all the fans that I’m sorry for the disappointment and pain I’ve given you.

I’ve written and erased my words many times, but I felt as if I was just making excuses and didn’t have the courage to express my heart and resolve the misunderstandings.. I also thought that just saying this would also be meaningless.. So even now, I’m worried and my heart is uneasy that you might be hurt again because of this post and that I might regret putting this up.. But, I really wanted to express my sincere feelings so I’m writing this post.

I’m so sorry that I caused pain to fans who have always been precious to me. And I’m sorry again that I hurt you more through the misunderstandings that came from this situation.

I wish that.. our fans will no longer hurt.. Although I’m really undeserving, I will do my best to slowly approach you all again.. And EXO is a name that is so precious to me. I want to tell you that I’ve never thought of EXO lightly.

I will continue to strive to become EXO’s Baekhyun who does his best on and off stage. I hope that these words at least will come off sincere.

Read below for what EXO said about Kris’ lawsuit against SM Entertainment!

With a successful first concert under their belt, EXO had a press conference to meet with media and discuss their concert as well as the issue on everyones mind, EXO-M’s Kris filing lawsuit.

When asked about the situation, the Lay responded, “We had an interview in China about the situation and we were very upset. There was a lot of disappointment and we were hurt. Due to rumors, EXO fans became divided and I’m upset there was this misunderstanding. I hope there aren’t situations like this in the future and I want EXO to become one.”. Chen continued on to say, “Just like how rain hardens the soil, our member’s teamwork has also become stronger.”

Suho said, “At that moment, the biggest feeling was confusion and because the concert was so close, it was psychologically and physically very difficult and painful. We were more worried for the fans rather than our concert. We hoped to give a perfect performance for the fans, we mentioned and discussed this a lot. After [the incident], we practiced really hard, hoping to give a great performance.”

Luhan said, “First of all, the most touching aspect was that even though there was only a week till the concert, the staff worked very hard to make a perfect performance [for the concert].”

Chanyeol continued on to say, ”At first, it was very chaotic and confusing. I was most worried about the performance for our fans. We discussed and talked amongst ourselves a lot and we practiced even more. Because we practiced so much and had more rehearsals, our bond grew stronger. I think that is how we created this perfect performance. I can confidently say that you will be able to feel the quality of our performance at today’s concert.”

Baekhyun said, “Truthfully, it was difficult to suddenly change the music and choreography, but I feel like our stage director, dancers, managers, and staff suffered [the most]. I really want to thank the staff for their hard work. Considering there was only a week before the concert when the incident happen, I’m sure [everyone] was tired and exhausted. And I’m very grateful towards the all the members very working so diligently.”

Hong Kong Fans Ask K-Pop Artists To Boycott The “Hong Kong Dome Festival”

Reblogged By: De De Tillman;  International Celebrity Blogger

Posted: Sunday June 23, 2013 @ 5:12 a.m PST

On July 1st, the “Hong Kong Dome Festival” outdoor concert will be held at the Kai Tak Development Site, lasting four hours long, and will features artists BoA, SHINee, EXO, f(x), Super Junior-M’s Henry, and local bands Mr and RubberBand.

Unfortunately, the event has been shrouded in controversy.

A pro-democracy protest rally is held annually on July 1st in Hong Kong, and Hong Kong fans have argued that their government has purposely arranged the concert in efforts to derail young people from the protest, which will focus on Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying.

Tickets for concerts in Hong Kong is said to average about 1,000 Hong Kong dollars (145,000 won or approximately 128 USD); but tickets for the “Hong Kong Dome Festival” were sold for 99 Hong Kong dollars (14,000 won or approximately 12 USD).

And thus, fans have been requesting K-Pop artists, who are scheduled to attend – BoA, SHINee, f(x), EXO and Super Junior-M’s Henry – through their Facebook page to boycott the upcoming concert.

One fan writes, “I love your songs and dance, but please do not go to Hong Kong on 1/ 7. BoA, please DO NOT make the show in HK on July 1. The government wants to use your fame to sidetrack the democratic event. Please consider, you are living in a country WITH democracy while we are not.”

“The concert you are attending is held at the same time as the march and I would really hate to see that you will be involved in some devious plot to try to undermine the Hong Kong people’s will to say No to a government which was not chosen by its people. Please rethink your decision to attend this concert,” posts a SHINee fan.

However, organizers of the “Hong Kong Dome Festival” deny the event was organized to clash with the protest. PIA chairwoman Florence Chan said to South China Morning Post (SCMP), “July 1 has become a day for Hongkongers to express their demands to the government. We picked this day because we wanted to show the government that we need a mega venue in Hong Kong so that we can stay competitive in the region.”

She adds that the Hong Kong Colisseum** has a capacity for 12,500, and has constantly been overbooked. “We need a venue with a capacity of 25,000 to 30,000.”

The West Kowloon Cultural District is known to have plans for an 18,000 capacity venue that will only come into fruition depending on the budget. Chan explains the the low price tickets to the music festival was “to help show public demand for mega shows (SCMP).”

Civil Human Rights Front’s Jackie Hung Ling-yu insists that the concert is sponsored by property developers to dissuade young people into participating in this year’s protest rally, but says that “the ploy would be in vain and protesters would take to the streets as usual (SCMP).”

A Facebook Page has been set up and has already attracted nearly 6,000 likes.

While there has been no word if any of the SM Entertainment artists will boycott the concert at the heed of fans, local Hong Kong bands Mr and RubberBand have recently announced that they will still participate, but will donate their earnings from the concert to charity.

RubberBand posted their decision via Facebook and Sina’s Weibo, “We offer our sincere apology to fans who are disappointed in us. After a few days of consideration, we have come to the conclusion that we can voice our opinion on any stage, wherever it is (SCMP).”

“After the event, we will [join] the march. We call upon all those who care about Hong Kong’s freedom and political development to take to the streets and express their views on that day (SCMP).”

Mr writes, “To those of you who have attacked and discredited the performers [at Dome Festival], we do not make this decision out of fear of you. I want you to know your comments bring no positive impact on society, the economy or yourself (SCMP).”

**in comparison, Tokyo Dome (Japan) has a capacity of 55,000; Kaohsiung (Taiwan) seats 40,000; Singapore Sports Hub seats 55,000.
