[by Chloe Yun] Prince of Asia Jang Keun Suk appears on the cover of Marie Clare’s April 2014 special edition issue, on newsstands March 20.
From semi-formal to casual, Jang suggested various spring looks for men through the pictorial. He showed off his great sense of fashion as mix-matching various print and floral items, which accentuated his signature boyish charm.
Jang Keun Suk, who has been loved for his outgoing, outspoken personality, told during the interview that he wanted to be “crystal clear”. He said, “I think celebrity can be thought as a certain form of product or brand. Celebrities may look flawless from the outside, but it doesn’t mean that they are perfect on the inside, too. I want to be like a crystal box so people can see through me. ”
“I want to continue my acting career as long as possible. Acting is what I need to focus on. I can’t be sure that every movie or TV show I choose will be safe and successful. But people say that living flowers with some scratches and thorns are much beautiful than artificial flowers with no scars?”, he continued expressing his passion for acting career.

Jang Keun-suk found out on Sunday that even the “Prince of Asia,” as he affectionately calls himself, is not immune to the dangers of everyday life. He was involved in a car accident at around 5 a.m. while being transported from one drama set to another by his fatigued manager.

The vehicle carrying Jang crashed into a guardrail lining the street and was slightly damaged. The actor continued immediately to the set of “Love Rain,” and visited the doctor after filming ended for the day, according to his agency. He reportedly suffered from only minor bruising and will continue work without interruption.

Korean actors, always chained to their hectic and grueling work schedules, often forgo medical attention when involved in accidents, to continue their work, especially the filming of dramas that often run on tight deadlines.

On March 26, actress Park Ha-sun from the sitcom “High Kick: Attack of the Short-Legged” was also involved in a car accident but only mentioned it in passing on her Me2Day page.

Japanese R&B singer Crystal Kay would be making her world debut with a collaboration with American hip-hop group Far East Movement in their upcoming album “Dirty Bass”.

According to Tokyo Hive, Crystal Kay would be featured in the track “Where the Wild Things Are” from the album that is expected to be released sometime in May. Other artists that would be featured in the album are Justin Bieber, Jang Geun Suk and LMFAO.

“I was so happy that I started dancing. It’s like a dream to have my name on a foreign artist’s CD. Using this chance, I want to become a singer that can give appeal to the world,” said the half African-American and half Korean singer about her collaboration with the group that shares her Asian ancestry.

This is believed to be the first collaboration between a Japanese artist with an international artist in a long time, the last being B’z who were featured in Steve Vai’s album “Asian Sky” some 13 years ago.

MORE INFOMATION ON CRYSTAL KAY: According to Wikipedia, Kay was born and raised in Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture to an African American father and a Zainichi Korean mother. Her father was a bassist from New Jersey and a sailor in the United States Navy stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. Her mother was a professional singer with one album while her father played music as a hobby. As a child, Kay met artists such as Diana Ross and Bobby Brown through her parents taking her to shows.

Although her mother is ethnically Korean, Crystal does not speak Korean. Kay is fluent in Japanese and English, the latter influencing and making a regular appearance in her songs. She has also studied French. Kay has cited Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson as her biggest influences. In Japan she cites the acts of producer Tetsuya Komuro as her J-Pop influences, particularly SPEED and Namie Amuro.

Crystal Kay is considered a pioneer for interracial acts in Japan. She debuted in 1999 when R&B began to take off in Japan thanks to local acts MISIA, Double and Hikaru Utada. Her success paved the way for the mainstream success of many interracial acts in the mid-00s such as Thelma Aoyama, Anna Tsuchiya, Angela Aki and African-American/Japanese enka singer Jero.

In 2009 Kay stated that “There is still some racial thing going on, [but] people are getting used to it. You can see a lot more mixed people on TV, and even (among) models in magazines.” At a summer festival that year half-Japanese half-Papua New Guinean singer Emi Maria left Kay a demo and a note saying “You’re my idol, I’m sad I couldn’t meet you in person.”

Nevertheless Kay has commented, “I consider myself a Japanese artist because I was born and raised here, but nationality-wise I look, and am, foreign.”

As of July 2009, Kay has released ten albums and she has sold over two million records in Japan as of 2009. Throughout her career, Kay has collaborated with M-Flo and BoA, Chemistry as well as other well-known recording artists.

Hallyu actor and singer Jang Keun-suk has landed the third spot on the weekly Oricon chart, showing again just why his fans and the entertainer calls himself “The Prince of Asia.” Jang’s new dance music “Lounge H: The First Impression” comprising 10 songs was released on March 21 in Japan and has sold more than 30,000 copies in the first week. Thus the album has secured Jang the third spot on Oricon’s weekly albums chart.

Ever the perfectionist, Jang was involved with the whole process of the album’s production from overseeing the jacket design, music video concept as well as deciding on the costumes.

The album was a collaborative effort with music producer and artist Big Brother who Jang had previously performed with on numerous occasions. The two who call themselves a “unit-band” by the name of “Team-H,” took to the stage together last year when Jang toured around Japan from October to November.

Most recently, the two performed at a special stage for selected fans at a fan club exclusive concert in Tokyo from Feb. 20 to 21. Big Brother and Jang met in 2004, and the two previously performed together at Lounge H, which is run by Hanyang University, where Jang is a student. Meanwhile Jang is currently the star of the new KBS drama “Love Rain.”
