More news about Nicole’s departure from KARA and DSP Media resurfaces.

On November 20th, Korean news outlets reported that Nicole is considering leaving for Los Angeles, once her contract with the agency officially expires. According to Sankei Sports, a news agency in Japan, Nicole is considering flying to the United States to retrain and study, the moment her contract with DSP Media expires on January 2014.

It was further stated that Nicole’s possible withdrawal from the agency is caused by their different opinions on her growth as a solo artist, after previously mentioning that she wishes to be a solo artist, whilst being active in the group.

No other confirmation about this report has been released. DSP Media has not yet commented on this matter.

After recently wrapping up promotions for their latest title track“Damaged Lady,” KARA will no longer be promoting with five members after next year. Nicole has decided not to renew her contract with DSP Media after it expires in January 2014, and will therefore no longer be a member of KARA.

Through a press release, DSP announced on October 4th that the other three members, Gyuri, Seungyeon, and Hara have all renewed their contracts for another two years and will continue promoting as KARA. Jiyoung’s contract also expires in April next year, but has yet to decide whether to renew it or not. A representative from DSP stated, “Jiyoung is thinking about resting and studying abroad. Right now, she is working hard as part of KARA, and nothing has been confirmed yet. There is still a lot of time left, so we will be discussing this further.”

Meanwhile, fans have been speculating the reason for Nicole’s departure from KARA. An online community posted an article on October 4th, stating that aside from being an MC for SBS’s Inkigayo, Nicole has not had many individual activities since KARA’s controversy in 2011.

Despite this recent development, KARA is continuing their second Japan arena tour, with performances in Yokohama, Fukuoka, and Osaka. Furthermore, DSP clarified that regardless of the final decisions, KARA will continue with domestic and international activities.

What do you think of this recent development? KARA fans, will you continue to support KARA with three, possibly four, members?
