Lil Wayne was hospitalized Tuesday after suffering a seizure, TMZ reports. The rap star, 30, was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles late Tuesday night by his bodyguards after a single seizure and released early Wednesday morning, according to the website report.
“I’m fine. Thank u,” Lil Wayne tweeted at 11:23 a.m. PT Wednesday.
His publicists did not return requests for details or confirmation of the TMZ story.
Wayne, who recently revealed that he has epilepsy, spent almost a week at Cedars-Sinai in March after suffering several seizures.
“I’m an epileptic, so I’m prone to seizures,” he told L.A. radio station Power 106 afterward. “I’ve had a bunch of seizures. Y’all just never hear about it. This time it got real bad because I got three of ’em in a row, and on the third one, my heart rate went down to, like, 30%. Basically, I could have died soon. That’s why it was so serious. The reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest and overworking myself.”
Sizzurp isn’t over-the-counter stuff, it’s a combination of prescription-strength cough syrup containing codeine and, often, the anti-allergy drug promethazine, with soft drinks such as Sprite and Mountain Dew, usually drunk from a styrofoam cup. Some users will drop in a Jolly Rancher sweet to mask its medicinal taste.

Summer Jam 2012has been underway at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey since 5pm on Sunday (June 3), but a tweet from Lil Wayne, sent an hour and a half after the concert began, says that his YMCMB team will be canceling their sets. “Young Money ain’t doing summer jam,” Wayne wrote briefly on Sunday. Nicki Minaj and Tyga were both on the lineup today, and Tyga has even hit the stage already. Nicki Minaj, however, backed up Wayne via Twitter.
One of Minaj’s earlier tweets showed that she was excited about taking the stage, writing, “History will be made @ Hot97 Summer Jam tonight. I really hope you’re there to witness it,” but just a few hours later things had changed. Hot 97 radio personality Peter Rosenberg voiced a negative opinion on Minaj’s “Starships,”calling the song “wack,” and adding that she was was no longer ‘real hip-hop,’ which started all of the trouble.
“Wow. U ni–az just fucked up history. But the President has spoken. #YMCMB,” she wrote after Wayne announced they they’d be pulling out of the show. “I go above and beyond for my fans. But won’t ever go against wayne’s word. What he says, goes. Had a HELL of a fucking lineup. But we won’t b disrespected.”
Nicki proceeded to retweet many of her fans who reassured her that Wayne had her beast interests at heart. StyledFamous wrote: “SMH. @Hot97 got it twisted. How you book @NICKIMINAJ as your headliner and then allow their DJs to disrespect,” and @KaitlynMorris added, “Lawd it’s not about WHAT he said, u don’t invite some1 to perform, use their name to sell then publicly disrespect.”
Jae Millz was upset about what happened too, writing @JAE_MILLZ “Radio personality with NO personality… f— n—a!!! & u ain’t even black…” which prompted Nicki to respond, “Not blak but on blak radio dissin blak women.”
Other artists performing tonight include Young Jeezy, Rick Ross and Maybach Music, J. Cole, Wale, Meek Mill, DJ Khaled and Friends, Waka Flocka, Trey Songz, Maino, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, French Montana.

According to CBS News/Celebrity Circuit Lil Wayne said that after a recent NBA playoffs ticket dispute he felt unwelcome and “unwanted” at the Oklahoma City arena and isn’t planning to return.
The rapper said two Thunder players — Kevin Durant and James Harden — had reached out to offer him tickets to Saturday’s fourth game of the Western Conference Finals.
“That’s not the point, though,” he told The Associated Press in an interview Friday night. “It’s the players stepping up but of course the players aren’t white. I don’t want to be sitting there on behalf of you and I’m sitting next to a (person) that’s like `I don’t want this (guy) sitting next to me.’ (Forget) you … I’m in Forbes,” he said, laughing.
Lil Wayne claimed in a tweet Thursday night that he had been “denied by the team to be in their arena.” The team responded by saying the seats he wanted were already taken.
He said he typically procures tickets for such games “from this guy named Mike.” Lil Wayne said Mike had requested special security, parking and entrance for the rapper, but Mike said the team responded that they would only sell the seats for Mike’s personal use.
Lil Wayne said a manager had advised him not to return to the city’s arena for sports events or concerts, but “I never say never.”
He said he felt welcome at other arenas including Miami, and likes being able to energize players — many of whom are fans of his music — on their home court.
“That’s like me going on stage and … seeing LeBron (James) in the crowd with his hand up. I’m going to perform a little bit harder,” he said.
But in Oklahoma, he said that while “the players want me there, I don’t want to feel — I’m going to still feel unwanted.”
“Of course, when someone tells Lil Wayne, `No,’ that he can’t come in, `We’re sold out,’ you feel a certain way. Unfortunately, it had to go down like that,” said Durant, the three-time NBA scoring champion.
“We’d have loved to have him here in Oklahoma City. We’d have welcomed him with open arms. Hopefully, we get past that and next time he can come and enjoy a game.”
A team spokesman has said Lil Wayne’s representatives insisted that he sit in the front row, and none of those seats were available. Oklahoma City sold out every home game during the regular season and playoffs.
“It was just a misunderstanding. We were sold out of tickets, I heard, and we didn’t come through,” Durant said. “He knows a few of us on the team and he knows it’s nothing like that. We offered him tickets to tonight but he had to do something. He’s a superstar in his own right, so he can’t just pick up and go to a game.
“He had something to do, but I’m sure if his schedule was free, he would have came tonight. We’re still inviting him to games — maybe not this year. Next year or whatever.”
This year’s Billboard Icon Award is going to legendary singer, songwriter and producer Stevie Wonder. The honor will be presented at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, which airs live May 20 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET from the MGM Grand Arena.
With memberships in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Wonder is one of the most celebrated artists in popular music history. Wonder follows in the footsteps of fellow legend Neil Diamond, who was given the Icon Award at the 2011 ceremony.
Hosted by Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell of the ABC hit comedy “Modern Family,” the BBMAs will also have a star-studded roster of presenters this year. Brandy and Monica, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sara Ramirez, Wiz Khalifa and Lil Wayne join previously announced presenters Taio Cruz, Gavin DeGraw, Gladys Knight, Julianne Hough, Natasha Bedingfield and Jeremy Sisto, along with musical acts Kelly Clarkson, Linkin Park, Nelly Furtado, Usher, CeeLo Green, Carrie Underwood, Justin Bieber, LMFAO and The Wanted.
Adele, LMFAO, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne are the leading finalists for awards. Adele takes the lead as a finalist in 18 award categories, while LMFAO is a finalist in 17 categories. Rihanna lands in 13 categories this year, after leading the pack with 18 category appearances in 2011. Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne each snagged a spot in 10 categories.
