SHINee’s Onew, Key, Taemin & Minho’s Handwritten Letters, Following The Death Of Jonghyun

All four of the SHINee members uploaded handwritten letters about Jonghyun‘s passing to their official Japanese website.

After a great deal of contemplation, the members have decided to proceed with their Japanese concert tour “SHINee WORLD THE BEST 2018 ~ FROM NOW ON”.

They carefully expressed their thoughts through letters written to fans.

“Hello, this is SHINee’s Onew.

I don’t know what to say first. I want to thank everyone who has supported our group constantly. I also want to apologize to our fans for making them worry as well.

I thought it was not possible. I thought we could not do the concerts. However, that’s when Jonghyun hyung’s mother said to never give up. She said that we are people who give hope to others, hope to people who are having trouble somewhere.

If I can give happiness, spread happiness, even if i’m a lacking individual… I decided that we had to do the concerts and I will work hard to do my best. I lack in a lot of ways but I will do everything I can within SHINee to show the best.

Even if the progress is hard, I will do my best to show you guys the best.

Jonghhyun will forever be a SHINee member in my heart and also in the fans’ hearts.

The fact that we will forever remember is something that will never change with me and you guys as well. I will work towards showing my best self in all SHINee’s future activities.

Thank you very much.”

— Onew

“Hello, it’s SHINee Key.

Thanks to everyone who worried for me, I’m slowly trying to go back to my daily life.

There were times when I cried and my heart hurt because of all the memories I had with Jonghyun, but I want to try moving on by thinking he’s still with me.

I know everyone is hoping for SHINee to continue and I contemplated about it a lot. But I don’t think it’s right to wait until my heart is completely healed.
With everyone’s worries in mind, we have decided to proceed with our Japanese concert.

I’m sure Jonghyun would have wanted us to continue, and I think it’s important to keep our promise to our fans and put on a good performance.

This year marks our 10th anniversary since our debut.
Thank you for always supporting us and worrying about us.

We will pay you back with a stage fit for SHINee.

I love you and thank you.”

— Key

“Hello this is SHINee’s Minho.

The members have thought long and hard individually on the topic of SHINee’s Japanese concert and we have come to a careful consensus.

I am writing this letter to deliver my thoughts carefully and calmly. Even as I am writing these words many feelings and thoughts cross my mind but I will attempt to deliver my feelings as carefully as possible.

I am sure there will be those who are happy with our decisions as well as those who worry for us. I do not know what the correct course of action truly is but I choose to believe what I am doing is right and plan to keep our promise to everyone.

I believe that the moments we shared with our fans and the staff are the most precious and happiest memories SHINee has and that it is simply irreplaceable.

Nothing can replace Jonghyun and we worry that our stage may not be complete without him but I believe he will be there with us whenever we stand on stage before all of you. And I will sincerely put all of my heart into preparing for our stage.

As Jonghyun and the rest of us have promised, we will remember that you were there for us whenever we felt weak and wanted to run away and we will continue to sing for you. The amount of pain we have to bear is more than anyone can imagine but I believe you will give us strength to work through this all.

We will be thankful for all of those moments and continue to perform for our fans and Jonghyun with all of our hearts. I think we will get through this cold winter thanks to the warmth of your support and cheer. Thank you.”

— Minho

Handwritten letter by Minho.

“Hello this is SHINee’s Taemin.

To be honest, I wasn’t confident about the concert at first. However, I wanted to keep the promises I made to our fans and I wanted to be with SHINee even in the far future.

I looked back at all the times where I was the happiest and most at peace. I realized those times were when I was with the members and the fans. This thought made me fall in love with SHINee and the members even more. So much so that I did not want to give it up.

I know what the future holds in store for us will not be easy. But I will do my best to make sure SHINee is not forgotten, that it shines that much more. The members and the fans have given me so many beautiful memories and I will be thankful in guarding those memories.

I want us to be loved as SHINee and I want to get up on that stage confidently to show Jonghyun who will be watching us from above.

I am sorry to have concerned all our fans. Please watch us carry on. Take care of yourselves in the cold and happy new year.”

Hong Kong Fans Ask K-Pop Artists To Boycott The “Hong Kong Dome Festival”

Reblogged By: De De Tillman;  International Celebrity Blogger

Posted: Sunday June 23, 2013 @ 5:12 a.m PST

On July 1st, the “Hong Kong Dome Festival” outdoor concert will be held at the Kai Tak Development Site, lasting four hours long, and will features artists BoA, SHINee, EXO, f(x), Super Junior-M’s Henry, and local bands Mr and RubberBand.

Unfortunately, the event has been shrouded in controversy.

A pro-democracy protest rally is held annually on July 1st in Hong Kong, and Hong Kong fans have argued that their government has purposely arranged the concert in efforts to derail young people from the protest, which will focus on Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying.

Tickets for concerts in Hong Kong is said to average about 1,000 Hong Kong dollars (145,000 won or approximately 128 USD); but tickets for the “Hong Kong Dome Festival” were sold for 99 Hong Kong dollars (14,000 won or approximately 12 USD).

And thus, fans have been requesting K-Pop artists, who are scheduled to attend – BoA, SHINee, f(x), EXO and Super Junior-M’s Henry – through their Facebook page to boycott the upcoming concert.

One fan writes, “I love your songs and dance, but please do not go to Hong Kong on 1/ 7. BoA, please DO NOT make the show in HK on July 1. The government wants to use your fame to sidetrack the democratic event. Please consider, you are living in a country WITH democracy while we are not.”

“The concert you are attending is held at the same time as the march and I would really hate to see that you will be involved in some devious plot to try to undermine the Hong Kong people’s will to say No to a government which was not chosen by its people. Please rethink your decision to attend this concert,” posts a SHINee fan.

However, organizers of the “Hong Kong Dome Festival” deny the event was organized to clash with the protest. PIA chairwoman Florence Chan said to South China Morning Post (SCMP), “July 1 has become a day for Hongkongers to express their demands to the government. We picked this day because we wanted to show the government that we need a mega venue in Hong Kong so that we can stay competitive in the region.”

She adds that the Hong Kong Colisseum** has a capacity for 12,500, and has constantly been overbooked. “We need a venue with a capacity of 25,000 to 30,000.”

The West Kowloon Cultural District is known to have plans for an 18,000 capacity venue that will only come into fruition depending on the budget. Chan explains the the low price tickets to the music festival was “to help show public demand for mega shows (SCMP).”

Civil Human Rights Front’s Jackie Hung Ling-yu insists that the concert is sponsored by property developers to dissuade young people into participating in this year’s protest rally, but says that “the ploy would be in vain and protesters would take to the streets as usual (SCMP).”

A Facebook Page has been set up and has already attracted nearly 6,000 likes.

While there has been no word if any of the SM Entertainment artists will boycott the concert at the heed of fans, local Hong Kong bands Mr and RubberBand have recently announced that they will still participate, but will donate their earnings from the concert to charity.

RubberBand posted their decision via Facebook and Sina’s Weibo, “We offer our sincere apology to fans who are disappointed in us. After a few days of consideration, we have come to the conclusion that we can voice our opinion on any stage, wherever it is (SCMP).”

“After the event, we will [join] the march. We call upon all those who care about Hong Kong’s freedom and political development to take to the streets and express their views on that day (SCMP).”

Mr writes, “To those of you who have attacked and discredited the performers [at Dome Festival], we do not make this decision out of fear of you. I want you to know your comments bring no positive impact on society, the economy or yourself (SCMP).”

**in comparison, Tokyo Dome (Japan) has a capacity of 55,000; Kaohsiung (Taiwan) seats 40,000; Singapore Sports Hub seats 55,000.

SHINee “Sherlock” Changed Their Style “We Are Driven By Our Fans’ Expectations”

Blogged  By: La Tray

When the five members of SHINee (pronounced SHY-nee) sat down for an interview with The Korea Times, Onew, Jonghyun, Key, Minho and Taemin sacrificed a much-need break before a live performance. But they wore their professional faces, eager to take their best shot at explaining the reason behind their success.

“We show something new with every release,” said Onew. “Initially, we can feel a bit awkward (in the new shoes), but then we fill them.”
“We don’t follow trends,” Jonghyun added. “That’s probably why.”
But that fails to rationalize how the four-year-old group upstaged agency mates such as Girls’ Generation and Super Junior with more experience under their belts, at SM Entertainment’s collective showcase in New York last October. Jon Caramanica of the New York Times summarized them as “the most ambitious” of the evening.

Their appeal could be deconstructed into several elements.
One is their colorful avant-garde style, put together by fashion designer Ha Sang-beg. Since day one, when they debuted with “Replay” in 2008, vivid Candy Land hues — especially on their trousers — garnered as much attention as their music. Even these days, as seen on the cover of the latest single “Sherlock,” released late March, SHINee are bursting with color.

“Much has evolved over the years,” said Ha in a phone interview, “since I change their styles to reflect their music.”
But he admits a sense of continuity: “The feel from their debut single still exists, mixing the overground (sic) with the underground, haute couture with street fashion … but it is very modern, like SHINee.”

Their boyish charm has also been an enormous factor in winning a considerable female following, young and adult. In particular the latter’s loyalty is a phenomenon most associated with the group, with newcomers trying to emulate the “adorable young man” formula with a mixed rate of success. At showcases, women in their late 20s and older scream their names in ecstasy.

Then, there are the musical creations by the world’s most sought-after producers, like Thomas Troelsen, Thomas Eriksen and Mikkel Remme Sigvardt to name a few. The predominantly Nordic teams feed the group with tracks that sound both impossibly polished and cutting-edge. Amplified through the members’ enviable voices, especially Jonghyun’s that packs the most punch of all boy bands in Korea, their music seems invincible.

But the members’ answer is quite simple: thirst for success.
“We work hard because we are driven by our fans’ expectations,” said Minho.

If their most important aim is to please, they can pat themselves on the back several times. In about four years, SHINee has established itself as one of the most popular groups in the Korean market. They have also been at the forefront of “hallyu,” or the Korean wave, recording various firsts. Last year they became the first Asian group to perform at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London, best known for its ties to the Beatles. Their 20-date Japanese tour, which started last week, is completely sold out.
The need to delight the audience is even stronger abroad, the band says.

“We can’t deny that we feel a sense of responsibility. We’re singing abroad in Korean,” said Jonghyun. “We’ve got to work hard as representatives.”
The SM Entertainment artists are well-known for their composure, and the five members cut a similarly innocuous figure. Only when they started speaking about their individual aspirations did they peel off the “perfect” skin a little — in one case literally.

“I really want to study more. So I bought a textbook recently,” said Onew. Only after insisting did he reveal the subject, which was nowhere near expected: human anatomy.

Taemin, who has consistently been called the prettiest of the five, revealed that he was drawn to and would like to try hard to create the sounds of superstar DJ Skrillex and heavy metal band Korn.

Key, mum for most of the hour, said he wanted to study abroad, mingling with ordinary people.
“I actually joined the company while I was preparing to leave Korea,” he said. “It doesn’t have to be any subject in particular. I want to experience the school life.”

Minho and Taemin also agreed.
“I want a routine lifestyle, one that has a schedule; ours is irregularly regular,” said Minho, alluding to the fact that the recording and performing cycle repeats itself but that the daily life remains unpredictable to them.

Taemin wanted to go on a class trip, which he most probably gave up after becoming a trainee at a very early age.
Jonghyun was actually the first one to jump in and respond, which was simple and determined: “I’d like to live alone. I’ve never done that before.”
With a tour around the corner, it seemed that these wishes would have to be put on hold for a little longer, yet it was apparent from their voices, quiet but markedly unwavering, that they yearned to grow up and experience the world — and become great artists. For more, visit enewsworld.com.

About SHINee
SHINee are a five-member boy band, consisting of Onew, 22, Jonghyun, 22, Key, 20, Minho, 20 and Taemin, 18. They made their debut in May 2008 — back when they were all teenagers — with the EP “Replay.”

The eponymous single was a instant hit, in particular with its line about “Nuna (older sister), you’re so pretty” with the adult female demographic.
The band followed it up with their first full-length album “The SHINee World,” including songs “Love Like Oxygen,” another hit.
After winning several new artist awards at the end of 2008, SHINee released their second and third EPs “Romeo” and “Year of Us” in 2009.
The group’s second studio album “Lucifer” came out the following year and SHINee demonstrated their catchy style in music, dance and fashion.
The choreography of “Lucifer” with its bounce gesture was widely imitated and parodied among Korean entertainers and fans on YouTube, contributing to the song’s success.

While participating in SM Town Live concerts in Tokyo, Paris and New York last year, the group released their first Japanese studio album “The First” in November.
In March, SHINee made their Korean comeback after a year and a half with new mini album “Sherlock,” which mashed up the tracks “Clue” and “Note.” A Japanese version of the song will be released on May 16.
The boy band began a concert tour of Japan in Fukuoka on April 25 and will continue through Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe, Tokyo and Hiroshima, with a projected total audience of 250,000.

SHINee 4th Mini Album ‘Sherlock’ Medley (Video)

According to SM Entertainment, ‘Sherlock,’ the title song of SHINee’s 4th mini album, is the definitive edition of the so-called hybrid remix, which mixes two independent songs into a new song. It will present a unique charm by making one feel like watching a musical and reveal the distinctive music color of SHINee, a contemporary band, who has been recognized for their fresh and experimental music and performances.

Especially, the lyrics tell the story of Sherlock, who solves a criminal case by combining the rational clue ‘Clue’ and intuitive ‘Note.’ Therefore, the song gives a smart charm by connecting the lyrics of the two different songs flawlessly into a piece.

Since the two songs ‘Clue’ and ‘Note,’ which make up ‘Sherlock,’ will also be included in the album and let listeners compare the hybrid remix version of ‘Sherlock’ and its original version, it is expected that the album will receive an explosive response from music fans.

Moreover, all the 7 songs in the mini album will be released worldwide on March 19th through Korean music websites and iTunes and the album ‘Sherlock’ will be available in stores from March 21st.

According to Nate, On March 16, SHINee released medley of tunes from its upcoming new album ‘Sherlock’ along with teaser images of the members in all-new style. This promotional video has been posted on SHINee’s official web site and online social sites such as Facebook and Kakao Talk Plus Friend.

SHINee’s ‘Sherlock’ is officially to be released worldwide on March 19 through various Korean music services and Itunes. Starting from Korea on March 21, the album will be available in stores in Asia, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippine, Indonesia and China.

The title song, also named ‘Sherlock,’ will be sensational – the original ‘Hybrid Remix’ music is mixed with choreography by Tony Testa, a world renowned dancer who has also worked with Michael and Janet Jackson and Kylie Minogue. SHINee makes a grand comeback on Mnet’s ‘M-Conutdown’ on March 22 and officially starts the promotion for ‘Sherlock.’

Topic: 2011 Billboard K-Pop Masters Concert

Billboard is having their first K-Pop Masters Concert in Las Vegas in November 25 and November 26, 2011 at the Grand Garden Arena.

The duo TVXQ (Yunho and Changmin) are the top billed names that will be performing including SISTAR, BEAST, 4MINUTE, BROWN EYED GIRLS, MBLAQ, and G.NA on November 25th and 26th, however, SHINee will perform on November 26.

Once again, JYJ isn’t going to be at the Billboard’s first ever K-Pop concert. JYJ was not at the New York Korea Festival this year. Another event where JYJ and TVXQ will not be together.
