Isabella Santiago a 22-year-old Venezuelan was crowned “Miss International Queen” on Friday night at a beauty contest that bills itself as the world’s largest and promotes the rights of transsexuals and transvestites.
Santiago beat 21 contestants from 18 countries to win the title and prize money of $12,500 (7,875.75 pounds) at a glittering pageant in the Thai resort town of Pattaya. The winner of the 2014 contest can also opt for free cosmetic surgery

Myanmar’s first international beauty queen has absconded with her $100,000 crown after being stripped of her title for being rude and dishonest, organizers said Friday.
May Myat Noe’s photograph was blacked out on the Miss Asia Pacific World website, the word “dethroned” stamped alongside her name.

Miss Universe Thailand has resigned less than a month into her reign after being harshly criticized on social media over her political comments and looks.
Weluree Ditsayabut, 22, tearfully announced she was giving up the title that would have allowed her to compete in the international Miss Universe pageant.
The actress and former talk show host said Monday she was initially pleased to have won the title, but that the hail of brutal comments on social media blasting her outspoken political views and calling her fat had hurt her family.

Opposition supporter Genesis Carmona is evacuated on a motorcycle after being shot in the head during a protest against Nicolas Maduro’s government in Valencia, some 100 miles (160 km) from Caracas, February 18, 2014. A 22-year-old student from the central city of Valencia died on Wednesday after being shot in the head during an anti-government.
The beauty queen died of a gunshot wound from Venezuela’s political unrest, as imprisoned protest leader Leopoldo Lopez urged supporters to keep fighting for the departure of the socialist government. A college student and model Genesis Carmona, 22, who was shot in the head at a protest in the central city of Valencia, died later in a clinic.

Indian police said Thursday they had filed a case against Miss Universe for conducting an unauthorised footwear fashion shoot at the Taj Mahal which was slammed as an “insult” by the monument’s caretaker.
Twenty-one-year-old American Olivia Culpo, wearing a long peach-coloured dress, visited the world-famous “monument to love” in Agra on Sunday during a 10-day tour of India.

Sheena Monnin has been ordered by a judge to pay Donald Trump and his Miss USA pageant $5 million in a defamation lawsuit after she claimed the contest was fixed.
After the 2012 Miss USA pageant the former Miss Pennsylvania accused the contest of being rigged. She claimed on Facebook and the “Today” show that another contestant saw a written list of five finalists backstage before winners were officially announced onstage, according to the New York Law Journal.
Monnin quit the contest and wrote on her Facebook page that the pageant was “fraudulent, lacking in morals, inconsistent and in many ways trashy.”

Judges crowned Ontario’s Denise Garrido, 26, the new Miss Universe Canada out of 57 contestants. The next morning, they admitted that they had made a mistake in tabulating the scores and stripped her of her crown. The real winner was Riza Santos, 26, of Calgary.
